Aim
To verify Ohm's law by finding how the current through a wire changes with the voltage across it, and to find its resistance.
Measure current and voltage across a nichrome wire with 1 to 4 cells and a rheostat, draw the V-I graph, then change the length, thickness and material.
What you'll explore
- Ohm's law V = IR, slope 4.38 ohms.
- Resistivity R = rho l / A.
- Drift 0.14 mm/s in a copper lead.
Who it's for
Class 10 and Class 12 physics, for CBSE, ICSE and State boards. It follows the practical in your textbook: charge, ohm's law, v-i graph, resistivity, drift.
Practical guide
Ohm's Law Experiment Class 10: Table, V–I Graph, Viva: procedure, observation table, worked calculation, precautions and viva answers.
