Aim
To separate the coloured parts of a mixture by paper chromatography and find their Rf values.
Spot ink, food colour or leaf extract on a paper strip, stand it in a solvent, and watch the colours climb and spread apart; then measure each Rf.
What you'll explore
- Capillary action The solvent climbs the paper.
- Rf value Spot's distance over the solvent front's.
Who it's for
Class 9, Class 11 and Class 12 chemistry, for CBSE, ICSE and State boards. It follows the practical in your textbook: separating the dyes in a colour.
